Instantly the site strikes me as very professional and trustworthy. You can see many projects and highly rated freelancers on the homepage.
Layout: 9
There are a lot of different colors used in the layout, but they go together very well. The design looks very professional and well thought out.
Feature List: 8
There are plenty of features to manage your projects and bids. Each project has a message board with private message capabilities. As a freelancer you can be notified when new projects are posted in categories that you select.
Signup: 5
I found the need to confirm the email before registration to be quite annoying. Form’s should be a one step process whenever possible. It would seem to make a lot more sense to confirm the email after submitting the registration and before the account can be used. The use of a CAPTCHA on the email screen defeats the purpose of needing to confirm the email first. The overall process was fairly short.
Bid Frequency: 8
New projects seem to receive several quality bids within hours of being posted.
Fees: 4
Fees are 10% or $5, whichever is greater. They give freelancers $2 for signing up. If you are a buyer you can pay $10 for a featured project. They also have a gold option where you don’t pay a commission on projects, but pay a monthly fee that starts at $7.95 for freelancers and $20 for buyers. If you plan on using the site regularly the gold option certainly seems like the way to go.

I like that you can instantly recognize what the site is about from the familiar Mambo orange. The part of the page above the fold strikes me as a little dark. Looking over the homepage you get a feeling that there are plenty of projects and freelancers to make everyone happy.
Layout: 6
Like I said in the first impression section the portion of the page above the fold is a little too dark. It would be more striking if the icons were the colored version without having to rollover them. The orange text in the grey table headers is also slightly difficult to read. Project navigation is pretty straightforward.

Fees are 3.8% or $5, whichever is greater. Certainly not a large amount, plus they give freelancers $2 and buyers $1 when you register.
